Ingredients for the chicken

  • 6 white meat chicken cutlets
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 tsp of garlic powder
  • 1 tsp of onion powder
  • 1tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of cracked black pepper

Ingredients for the orzo

  • 1 box of orzo (3 cups)
  • 2 onions
  • 5 minced garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp of oil
  • ½ cup of chicken stock or broth
  • 2 tbsp of chicken consomme
  • 1 tsp of salt and pepper
  • 3 tsp of umami mushroom spice (trader Joe’s)

Step By Step Instructions

    1. Pat chicken dry with paper towel
    2. Combine in bowl flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper, mix
    3. Light dip chicken it mixture to get a crispy skin on the chicken
    4. Place a cast iron on medium heat and wait till it gets very hot
    5. Place chicken in pan and let get a crispy brown crust and tender in the inside
    6. Cook for about 10 minutes (depending of the thickness of the cutlet)
    7. Place the orzo in apoy with a rapid boil and cook according to the directions on box
    8. Once the orzo is cooked, drain , and set aside
    9. Dice the 2 onions
    10. In the same pan the chicken was in, add the oil and onions and saute
    11. After about 5 minutes add the garlic
    12. Add the stock, consume, salt, pepper, and umami spice
    13. Add the orzo, mix and enjoy!
